Sergio Aguero dreamt of Liverpool move before Man City switch

While it seems insane to suggest Sergio Aguero could depart the Etihad this summer, Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola is known for taking no prisoners and is not afraid to upset his squad or fans for the long term good of the team.

He was speaking just months after the Reds had come from three goals down to beat AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final.

Aguero told Munich TZ newspaper whilst he was still at Independiente: "If I had to choose a league then it would be the Premier League". For how he played, how he tried, and I thought he scored.

Guardiola, however, has assured that the Nigerian striker has a future at Manchester City.

We kind of know where they were going with this, but it didn't pan out quite as they were hoping.

The 19-year-old did not only displace Iheanacho from the squad but has surprisingly become Manchester City first choice striker even above club legend Sergio Aguero.

"I've been at this club for a long time".

Manchester City's Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus broke a bone in his foot during Monday's 2-0 win over Bournemouth, the Premier League club said on Tuesday.

Aguero, whose future has been the subject of intense speculation, forced the second-half own goal from Tyrone Mings that followed Raheem Sterling's opener.

"I'm happy for him", said Guardiola. But happy for our result.

"He played good, he won, he fight, scored a goal for his confidence and for us, it's so important".

"Yesterday they (Chelsea) didn't win (in a 1-1 draw with Burnley) but they play so solid, it's so hard to create chances (against them)".

The injury is an undoubted blow for City, who resume their Champions League campaign next week when Monaco visit the Etihad Stadium for the first leg of their last-16 tie. "It's so important. When you play in a big team with a lot of competition for places, we need all the players".
