Tom Cruise stars in The Mummy 2017, in an obvious attempt on a film that is high on CGI and low (let alone original) on the story, going by the first trailer. The new trailer also answers the mystery created in the previous one - Ahmanet has returned to claim something that she has been denied. (The double-irises in her eyes, seen in both the first trailer and the movie's official poster, suggest that she's existing through two bodies or entities too).

It's no surprise that Ahmanet wants to destroy the world and remake it as she sees fit. This time, the new trailer gives out more information on how the mummy was found, her past, her devastating power and her link with Tom Cruise.

Annabelle Wallis told the CinemaCon convention Cruise convinced her to join him in a terrifying zero gravity plane crash stunt, when the scene could easily have been filmed in front of a green screen.

The Mummy is directed by Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us) and written by Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange) and Christopher McQuarrie (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation).

This year's most epic action-adventure will awaken in United Kingdom cinemas on Friday June 9.

According to am IMDb description of the upcoming film, an ancient princess named Ahmanet 'is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, ' bringing to modern day 'terrors that defy human comprehension'. 'Playing a monster was really interesting to me, but also the fact that the mummy was a woman.

The Mummy, also featuring Jake Johnson and Courtney B. Vance, hits theaters June 9. "To usher in a new age of gods and monsters is something that makes me very proud and excited".

Universal's movie is supposed to set up the larger Universal Monsters universe that will eventually lead to Dracula, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Invisible Man, the latter of which will be played by Johnny Depp.
