Washington unemployment rate drops to 4.7 percent

No other state had an unemployment rate above 5.8 percent, and most states had unemployment rates of below 5 percent.

The state Department of Workforce Development reported Thursday, April 20th that the unemployment rate in March was 3.4 percent.

The largest over the month private sector job gains were in leisure and hospitality, financial activities, and education and health services, the state reports.

The agency reports the number of unemployed Iowa resident dropped to 51,900 in March as more people left the labor force.

Nationally, unemployment continued to fall, sliding from 4.7 percent in February to 4.5 percent last month. Over the year, Trade, Transportation and Utilities gained 2,400 (+0.4%) jobs.

The national unemployment rate for March was 4.5 percent. "This is the 56th consecutive month that job growth has outpaced the nation".

New Mexico's unemployment rate has largely been in the same area for the past four years. But last month's jobless rate in Georgia was the lowest since December 2007, the beginning of the Great Recession.

Gould also refuted Trump's assertion that he could enact policies that will see the American economy add 25 million new jobs over the next 10 years.

Hawaii's unemployment rate is derived largely from a monthly telephone survey of households, while a separate survey of businesses determines the number of nonfarm payroll jobs.

Leisure and hospitality (+13,000 jobs).

Statewide, 677,700 were employed and 19,100 unemployed in March for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 696,800.

"While this is a positive economic indicator, there are thousands of good-paying jobs now available in IN that require in-demand skills", said DWD Commissioner Steven Braun. Counties with the highest rates include Greene (9.6), Clark (9.6) and Lowndes (9.3). Seven states, including North Dakota and South Dakota, had preliminary unemployment rates of 3 percent or less.
