Entire US Senate attending North Korea briefing

These parallel military escalations are likely to be a topic of discussion at Wednesday's meeting at the White House, an unusual venue to gather the entire Senate and some of Trump's most senior officials.

Director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, and General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, will also attend to brief senators.

There is growing concern over North Korea's nuclear and missile tests.

Fresh off the heels of a two-week, public-funded recess, all 100 senators have been requested at the White House for a briefing on the unfolding events on the Korean Peninsula.

Aides, quoted by Reuters, say the House of Representatives is seeking a similar briefing on North Korea. Beijing has "very limited influence on the entire situation", the op-ed stated, adding "the game of chicken between Washington and Pyongyang has come to a breaking point".

He emphasized that the meeting plan had been convened by Senate leadership and that the White House was serving "as the location".

A North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said those meetings called by USA officials clearly reflected the U.S.
