India will go 'out of way' to ensure justice for Jadhav

"Pakistan has not shared with us till now any details of Kulbhushan Jadhav's location or how he is", MEA said.

Earlier in the day, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said India condemns the death sentence by a Pakistani military court to Jadhav.

Though the Indian government has said that it will do everything possible to get Jadhav back, Pakistan has so far rejected India's 13 requests for Jadav's consular access.

Baloch Republican Party member Ashraf Sherjan said Jadhav's alleged connection with Balochistan was part of Pakistan's fake propaganda against the region.

The spy was awarded death sentence after trial through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under Pakistan Army Act (PAA).

Speaking in Rajya Sabha External affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj strongly condemned Pakistan's act. It is also seen as a tit-for-tat action after the disappearance of a former Pakistani army officer in Nepal in which Pakistan suspects an Indian hand. She said the charges against Jadhav, who was doing business in Iran and was kidnapped and taken to Pakistan, are "concocted" and the trial against him was "farcical", leading to an "indefensible verdict".

"Consular access is not provided across the board, let us remember that", he maintained.

Baglay said they had clearly informed the Pakistan High Commissioner that the Government of India will consider this as a "premeditated murder" as he was kidnapped despite lack of evidence, he was tried and consular access was denied.

The spokesperson added that India had been discussing Jadhav's kidnapping with Iran since a year ago and that the India-Pak consular access agreements are not being adhered to.

Shashi Tharoor of the Congress said that "This is a matter that affects us all". They should be told that if this thing has happened to an Indian national today, it can happen to their national as well.

When asked why was India not allowed consular access to Jadhav despite regulations under global law, Basit said that consular access is not "automatic", especially for matters that are "sensitive and related to security".
