He also tweeted that production of the KEYone was underway, "but we want to be certain we can meet our customer demands..." The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 32GB storage, 3GB RAM, supports microSD cards up to 2TB, and a 3505 mAh battery (the largest ever in a BlackBerry device).

The BlackBerry KeyOne was subjected to a hands-on review by Computing's sister site The Inquirer, when it was unveiled at Mobile World Congress earlier this year.

TCL COMMUNICATIONS has announced that the BlackBerry KeyOne is now available in the UK. The cleverest addition to the keyboard has to be the fingerprint scanner that's been embedded on the spacebar. While its seemingly-antiquated design necessitates a stubbier screen than a typical smartphone, the excellent hardware keyboard feels ideal - just as it did years ago on older BlackBerry models.

In the United Kingdom, where the BlackBerry brand still caries some weight (if not just for reasons of nostalgia), the KeyOne will be available from May 5 at £499 at the Carphone Warehouse.

TCL's BlackBerry KeyOne, featuring a 35-key physical keyboard, launches in the US and Canada in May.

BlackBerry launched the KEYone smartphone today (April 27) at Selfridges in London. The BlackBerry KeyOne is the first device to feature the company's new "Boost" charging technology, which promises to charge to 50 per cent power in precisely 36 minutes. BlackBerry promises 24 months of guaranteed monthly security updates with the device, and the lightweight skin may appeal to Nexus owners left behind as Google turns its own-brand phones into a high-end consumer brand. It has selected TCL as its global licensing partner which means that TCL is now going to develop and sell BlackBerry-branded handsets. There is an 8-megapixel front facing camera with a wide-angle lens and a flash module. For the US, Engadget reports the KEYone price to be around $549 for the unlocked variant with no details on the carrier-locked models. The big selling point of this phone is that signature BlackBerry keyboard.
