"A job well done Officer Bulmer, a TPD officer dedicated to serving and protecting this community". "It could've been my kid".

"I got a civilian".

Police noted they later learned the child had been diagnosed with autism, adding that many children with autism are drawn to water.

Bulmer quickly jumped in and saved the boy. It's not anything I thought about ...

Officer Aaron Bulmer's body camera shows what happened next.

A member of the public rushed over to assist the officer and help carry the child out of the pond.

In the video, Bulmer can be heard yelling for someone to dial 911 as he carries the gasping child. The two were reunited as the boy was being treated in an ambulance.

"I believe that he directed me away from the call I was on to make sure that I found that child".

The child's mother was at the news conference on Monday, and said that Elijah is "doing great" after the incident.

"I don't think words could describe how thankful we are that (Bulmer) was there at that time", Hamby said.

"I'm grateful everything turned out the way it did", Hamby said. "Because things could have been way worse", she said.
