National Front leader Marine Le Pen puts a major stake on parliamentary elections in France by announcing a new movement, Professor of the MGIMO University Evgeniya Obichkina told TASS on Monday.

A supporter of French far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen holds a blue rose, symbol of her campaign, at her election day headquarters Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Paris.

The younger Le Pen called her decision a "heartbreak".

Other differences between the two include their relationship with the party founder and funder of this year's presidential campaign, Jean-Marie Le Pen.

Marine Le Pen's niece and presumed political heiress, Marion Marechal-Le Pen, said Tuesday she's quitting political life, prompting her grandfather and National Front party founder Jean-Marie Le Pen to call her move a "desertion" after the presidential defeat.

"She had been telling me about this for a while", an MP from southern France told the newspaper.

Marion was quoted by Le Parisien as saying she made a "personal choice" to "change her life" and live privately.

Ms Marechal-Le Pen, whose mother Yann Le Pen is Marine Le Pen's sister, is a popular figure among the party faithful including some who hope she will eventually take over from her aunt. Former civil servant and investment banker French President-elect Emmanuel Macron and his fledgling political movement La Republique En Marche (Republic On the Move), are preparing for government after defeating far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen in Sunday's presidential runoff vote.

Ms Le Pen is estranged from her father, while Ms Marechal-Le Pen and him have closer ties.

She is one of only two National Front MPs in the lower house of parliament. "But if she wants to do this, now is the time".

Marechal-Le Pen is regarded as more traditional and conservative than Marine Le Pen.

"You know my story, you know I've been in this political world all my life".

"I do not give up political fighting definitively", she said.
