It was an inspired piece of skill by Karin Benzema that shattered Atletico Madrid's hopes of a comeback in the semifinals of the Champions League.

Atletico won 2-1 at the Vicente Calderon Stadium but lost 4-2 on aggregate. They have deserved to reach the final, we have too.

"After 25 minutes it all changed".

He picked up the ball near the left corner and quickly found himself surrounded by Jose Gimenez, Stefan Savic and Diego Godin, three of Atletico's best defenders.

And for a fifth consecutive year, the final will not feature a team from England, with Real Madrid facing Juventus at the Millennium Stadium in June.

It wasn't an easy game, conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes: "We had difficulties at the start of the game, 20-25 minutes, but we shouldn't worry because we were going to create chances".

Atletico has been contending among the continent's powerhouses the last few years, but it still hasn't been able to take that final leap and break through with the Champions League title.

Simeone's side, then the defending La Liga champions, inflicted Real's heaviest league defeat in over four years when they produced a scintillating 4-0 home win in February 2015.

One of his former clubs Inter Milan, who sacked Stefano Pioli on Tuesday, look set to launch a new offensive for the Argentine, who reduced the length of his contract from 2020 to 2018 earlier this season. "So we can all be happy, although we have not won anything yet".

"We have a great squad, it's very complete, and we show that in every game", added Ronaldo, who drew a blank in the second leg after scoring eight times in the previous three Champions League games. "Tomorrow we have to reflect on how huge an achievement this is after spending 11 years without playing the final". "I saw him get away from them, and I don't know how as there were lots of Rojiblanco shirts", Ramos said. "It's clear that the hearts of some of these players we have are so big that they transmit passion to their teammates and push them in the moments of difficulty and in the complex situations of a match".

The duo played alongside each other at Sevilla before becoming rivals when Alves moved to Real's great adversaries Barcelona.
