Vice President Pence hires outside legal counsel

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says that the USA wants to help Central America solve the security and economic problems that have caused turmoil in the region in recent years.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Comey had presented no evidence to prove that Moscow meddled in the US election, adding that Washington had tried to influence Russian elections "year after year".Putin also echoed Trump's criticism of Comey, saying it was "very strange" for a former FBI chief to leak details of his conversations with the USA president to the media through a friend.The obstruction of justice investigation into Trump began days after Comey was sacked, according to people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said.The administration initially gave differing reasons for his dismissal, including that he had lost the confidence of the FBI. In a statement he said: "The people of the United States have a special place in our hearts for the nations and people of Central America, especially in the Northern Triangle of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador". USA prosecutors have not accused Blatter of wrongdoing.

The White House says Pence will travel from August 13 to August 17.

"Irregular migration creates risks for everyone", Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales said.

Pence noted that the Trump administration has proposed $460 million in assistance, which will be used to strengthen law enforcement and develop their economies. He didn't mention that the amount is 30 percent less than was approved previous year by Congress under President Barack Obama, which has dismayed some experts on the region.

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez said improving security and economic opportunity in Central America is in the USA interest.

"We think it's very hard to signal support effectively when you are proposing such draconian cuts", said Geoff Thale, a program director with the Washington Office on Latin America.

Trump fired Flynn for misleading the vice president. He dismissed concerns about the reduced funding as part of wider cuts that proposed throughout the government by Trump.

He says the goal of the the region is to "create the prosperity we all want".

American and development bank officials are laying out their strategy for dealing with problems in Central America.
