The suspect in the shooting at the congressional baseball practice earlier this week had a list including the names of some members of Congress on him, CBS News has confirmed.

The FBI says Hodgkinson left his IL home months ago, and he was living out of a van in Alexandria, where he frequented the YMCA, and even engaged in conversations with the former mayor.

"There are a number of different indications now that this was a pre-meditated situation", Franks said Friday on CNN's "OutFront", though he declined to discuss the reported list.

Those who knew him say they're floored by the blood shed. "I responded that it was the Republican team practicing, and he proceeded to shoot Republicans", Duncan said the day of the shooting.

"It is a passive justification for the kind of violence we saw", Hill said.

Schaumleffel seemed to think the 2016 election enraged Hodgkinson: "He was getting even with whomever got into office he didn't like - he was going to take some of them out". "And I just want my neighbors to be in peace, and you guys leave them alone".

On Tuesday, Hodgkinson broke his apparent silence at the garage.

Two of Hodgkinson's victims were severely wounded.

Euille said Hodgkinson usually only spoke routinely with him and with the front desk manager on the morning shift at the YMCA. Staffer Zack BarthZack Barth, a legislative correspondent for Austin Congressman Roger Williams, was shot in the calf. A former congressional aide was hospitalized.

SHAPIRO: What have you heard in Belleville from people who knew Hodgkinson? "Let's do this in the spirit of what Americans do, that we are Americans first", said Florida's Sen.

Schaumleffel said he's yet to speak to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He always drank alone, and always drank cans of Budweiser - sometimes just one, sometimes as many as six, said Kristina Scrimshaw, a bartender at the restaurant.

"I had no idea this was going to happen, and I don't know what to say about it", she said with difficulty, through tears.

Seriously. What makes a person decide to shoot a group of unarmed people due to their political affiliation? We (whether you are on the left and the right) need to begin bridging the divide, or we will see more people like James Hodgkinson on the horizon. "As members of Congress, we are not Democrats and Republicans today; we are simply public servants". Sanders, an independent, ran a passionate, anti-establishment campaign that won support from many younger, liberal voters and gave Clinton a closer race than many expected, but he eventually backed her candidacy.

A search of online newspapers shows that Hodgkinson frequently wrote letters to his local newspaper, the Belleville News-Democrat, which published almost two dozen of them between 2010 and 2012.

"Most of the bartenders here are women", and he "came off a little creepy, apparently."

The FBI posted a notice asking for information about Hodgkinson, including these contact phone numbers: 202-278-2000 and 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
