Canada finally claimed their space atop the world of basketball, completing a magical run in Cairo with a 79-60 victory over Italy to capture their first-ever FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup title.

In seven games, Washington averaged 12.9 points and 5.1 rebounds and Diallo finished the tournament with an average of 10.9 points and 3.9 boards per contest.

"What an incredible moment for Canadian basketball", head coach Roy Rana of Ryerson University told reporters in Cairo after the game. Auburn sophomore Austin Wiley had 19 points and 10 rebounds. I think we just battled today.

Barrett, a 6-foot-7 wing who has Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, Arizona, and IN among some of his early recruiting leaders, was 10-of-18 from the field, 2-of-6 from the ac and 12-of-15 at the free-throw line.

The North American outfit then extended their advantage in the second stanza to ensure they reached half-time 51-36 in front.

The U.S. squad scored 17 of the first 21 points and jumped out to a 25-6 lead after the first quarter. He shot just 3-for-13 in his worst performance of a spectacular tournament, but hit 12-of-14 free throw attempts, getting to the line at will. Purdue's Carson Edwards paced the US with 13 points, while Payton Pritchard of OR followed with 12 points. "Nobody should have that many points on us", said Pritchard.

This Canadian under-19 team - playing without concussed guard Lindell Wigginton of Dartmouth, N.S., who had emerged as one of the team's best players through its first four games -faces Italy in Sunday's gold medal game.
