The company announced Tuesday that it's closing much of its Gymboree and insane 8 stores after filing for bankruptcy last month.

The chain also said it will be closing a store at Oak View Mall in Omaha. The closing sales at affected stores are scheduled to begin in a week on July 18.

"Stores close and change, just as trends change", she said in an email statement. She said it's unknown when the Fargo store will close.

The San Francisco-based children's clothing company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The San Francisco company listed six North Carolina stores among the 350 that will be being closed, mainly its Gymboree and insane 8 brands. The company will have more than 900 combined locations after the stores are shut down.

Gymboree also has stores at Patrick Herny Mall in Newport News, the Williamsburg Premium Outlets and Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach, according to the online store locator.

The Casper and Cheyenne stores, in the Eastridge and Frontier Malls, respectively, are among 350 stores Gymboree plans to close. Gymboree also owns the insane 8 and Janie and Jack chains, which both have a presence at malls across Upstate New York. "This was a hard decision to make, but we are confident that it is in the best long-term interest of our company, our customers and our broader employee base", Griesemer's statement said in part.
