The All-Star will be playing for the Boston Celtics in 2017, with the Cavaliers acquiring Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets unprotected 2018 first-round draft pick, which will likely end up in the top three again this season.

The Celtics posted this reaction from their executives shortly after the trade.

"We are excited to be part of one of the most memorable National Basketball Association offseasons in history with Kyrie, our 2K18 cover athlete, and Isaiah, one of the stars of our 2K roster, trading places". "He's been an NBA Champion, an Olympic Gold Medalist, and a four-time All-Star". But Isaiah had just an fantastic season this year, and entertained us all - the whole city of Boston, and everybody fell in love with him.

He hit.401 from 3-point range, second-best in his six years, and his 5.8 assists average was his third-best mark.

Cleveland sent Irving to their foremost Eastern Conference rival, nearly guaranteeing a showdown in the conference finals while supposedly bolstering the Celtics' long-term outlook.

While the Celtics now have a proven victor in Irving to go along with recently acquired Gordon Hayward, Crowder could actually be the key player in this trade.

When Kyrie Irving's trade request from the Cleveland Cavaliers went public last month, it was all but expected. Irving, 25, can not become a free agent for two more seasons and his contract includes a player option for 2019-20.

Irving also shot 40 percent from the three-point line last season, while Thomas shot 38 percent from behind the arc. He missed most of the East finals with a hip injury. While they moved some of their trading assets such as Crowder and the Nets pick, Irving is an immediate upgrade over Thomas.

Irving is under contract for two more seasons with Cleveland, with a player option in 2020. Irving may be seen as the superior player in most people's eyes, but it may in fact be closer than everyone thinks.

The move led to a wide array of emotions from fans in Boston.

"Isaiah embodied what it meant to be a Celtic". We can talk about the issues that Kyrie had with LeBron and when you have two stars on a team, and both believe they should be franchise guys, you will have a lot of tension. He improved his skills each year, but it's his energy and fight that will be remembered.

Latest NBA reports claimed that the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics had already reached an agreement which reports called as a blockbuster deal.
