He is well known to Chelsea boss Conte, who called him up to the senior Italy squad during his time in charge of the Azzurri and will hope he can quickly adapt to the Premier League.

According to the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old is on his way to London to undergo a medical.

Davide Zappacosta has completed his £23 million move to Chelsea from Torino, penning a four-year contract.

The deal to secure the Italian international's signature is understood to be close to completion, with the 25-year-old likely to offer competition for Victor Moses on the right-hand side of the Blues defensive line.

However, Torino insisted Chelsea would need to pay a staggering £92m to trigger the strikers release clause, which was seemingly not in the Blues' plans to do so.

Manager Antonio Conte was determined to add depth to his squad ahead of a long season that will see Chelsea fight for the English Premier League and Champions League. I am very excited to be here and start working with the team.

Happy summer transfer window deadline day everybody.

Technical director Michael Emenalo said: "Davide is a player of global calibre who Antonio Conte knows well and we have been aware of for some time". Following the footsteps of former Fiorentina player Marcos Alonso, right back Davide Zappacosta has joined Chelsea from Torino.

And that is what Antonio Conte wants.
