Israeli airstrikes target Syrian research center linked to chemical weapons

"The IDF policy is that we don't respond to foreign allegations or reports", an Israeli army spokesman told The Media Line.

The Syrian army proceeded to warn Israel of "serious consequences" for its "aggressive activities", which it argued destabilize the region and "raise the Islamic State's morale".

Israeli officials have in the past admitted that Israel has attacked weapons shipments bound for Hezbollah group, without specifying which ones. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights saids 42 soldiers were killed.

Reuters added that the strike took place the morning after United Nations investigators said the Syrian government was responsible for a sarin poison gas attack in April.

And with Israeli claims that Iran is building missile production facilities in Lebanon and Syria for Hezbollah, the message could not be clearer.
