The Disaster Artist will be released on December 8. It tells the tale of Wiseau who was more a profound artist in his own mind than reality, who made a decision to write, direct and star in a semi-autobiographical film. Based on The Room star Greg Sestero's book of the same name, The Disaster Artist is an uproarious and unbelievable true story attempting to piece together how the unknowable Wiseau created his unlikely classic.

The audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival's screenings for Midnight Madness, the festival's genre-focused thread, are typically more like those you'd find at a concert than a cinematheque.

This is gonna be the greatest bad movie ever. "I just wanted to do my own thing", he said. When Greg Sestero suggested that Franco should star in the film, Tommy Wiseau was fine with it.

Over the course of the movie - while making the movie within the movie - Wiseau unravels.

"The Disaster Artist" received a standing ovation when it first screened as a work in progress at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March. Franco's little bro, Dave, plays Sestero, and Seth Rogen plays a script supervisor whose job, it seems, is to be perpetually befuddled at what's going on.

Filmed like an inspirational biopic about a heartwarming rags-to-riches story, The Disaster Artist will show Wiseau's rise to unconventional fame in the most delightful way it could.
