The most comforting news for all potential buyers is that Apple are bringing Amazon Prime Video to Apple TV, enabling users to enjoy Amazon Originals in their glorious 4K format, provided you're subscribed to Amazon Prime of course.

During the iPhone launch keynote, Apple shed some light on the future of its Apple TV range.

First and foremost, the new Apple TV offers integration with the Apple ecosystem, which is great for those people who are already invested in it.

Jeff Williams, Apple COO then came onstage, he said "We're adding smart activity coaching, a completely redesigned workout app, new features for swimmers". Apple Insider pointed out that the new device's user experience could be limited by its bandwidth.

Although the news Apple TV looks similar to its predecessor, there's a lot of new stuff under the hood. In order to address the content issue, Apple needed to release a 4K Apple TV first to compete with Roku, Amazon, and Nvidia, all of which have 4K-capable set-top boxes. A representative from Thatgamecompany (developer of flOw, Flower, and Journey) stepped on stage briefly to highlights its upcoming iOS-exclusive game Sky, which will be playable on the new Apple TV 4K through its support of Apple's Metal 2 3D graphics API. Apple also explained that if you've purchased eligible movies in HD, they'll automatically be upgraded to 4K HDR for free.

A leak just days before the 12 September event suggests that Apple will require users to have a 15Mbps internet connection to take advantage of 4K, with automated troubleshooting responses warning: "Your Internet connection speed might have dropped below 15Mpbs, or there could be a problem with your home network". To be more exact, the leakster reported that Apple is getting ready to unveil a 4K TV that will be powered by an A10X Fusion processor alongside 3GB of RAM.

Apple has partnered with a group of clinicians at Stanford and telemedicine vendor American Well to test if Apple Watch can be used to detect cardiac abnormalities, according to CNBC.

Surprisingly, Apple isn't planning to charge more for higher-resolution versions of iTunes films.

Apple has formally announced the successor to 2015's fourth-generation Apple TV.

So what could the new Apple TV possibly offer that goes above and beyond what is now provided by your TV. With just two models of Apple TV now available, apple definitely sits in the latter camp.
