"Well, after President Trump was criticized for a awful response to Hurricane Maria, this morning he gave the people of Puerto Rico what they needed most: a bunch of tweets straight-up calling them lazy", he joked.

President Trump took to Twitter yesterday to blast San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who has criticized the federal government's disaster response effort.

Trump promises her country help by the middle of this week, but Cruz tells him that's not good enough. "I'd love to keep doing this per my availability, but I have other things I'm going to do, so I guess we'll figure it out", explained Baldwin.

"Given the president's history on race, given the fact that he, a few months ago, told us that there were good people on both sides, when neo-Nazis were marching in Charlottesville, yeah, I think we have a right to be suspect that he is treating the people of Puerto Rico in a different way than he has treated then people of Texas or Florida".

President Donald Trump on Sunday renewed his attacks on "politically motivated ingrates" he claimed failed to recognize the United States' relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

He also noted that he and the first lady will be traveling to Puerto Rico and possibly the U.S. Virgin Islands, which were also hit by hurricanes. "10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job (sic)", Trump added in a series of tweets. "Wait, you do know we're a USA territory don't you?"

Recovery efforts continued on Friday in Puerto Rico, which is still largely without power and in short supply of drinking water, medical supplies and food.

He even went so far as to say that Cruz's opinion of him changed because she listened to Democrats - though no one is quite sure how that fits into discussion about hurricane relief.

Later on in the show, Michael Che would also roast the president for his response to the situation in Puerto Rico.

"Trust me, I know things aren't as the locals say, 'despacito, '" Baldwin responds, telling her that help will be on the way by sometime next week.
