We'll also be adding more extensive news surrounding the announcements as they're written so if you want a bit more insight, you can get that too.

The stage has been set for Sony at the Paris Games Week 2017.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the sequel to 2013's survival game will still be centred around the two main protagonists, Ellie and Joel, but the trailer debuts a host of new characters "that are integral to their next journey".

Unfortunately, no release date has been confirmed.

"From 9th December to 12th December, you and up to three friends can start getting your feet wet on the unsafe locales of the new world".

The trailers for upcoming PlayStation exclusives The Last of Us Part 2 and Detroit: Become Human featured scenes showing a woman being pinned down and attacked with a hammer, and domestic child abuse - and implied infanticide - respectively.

By far the biggest announcement was the unveiling of a new blockbuster from Sucker Punch Productions.

This one is one of the most anticipated games for me. We don't even know which machines will run it (though PlayStation 4 is obviously a sure bet). Sony announced that the game will launch on February 6, 2018. "The Resistance" looks to feature three new multiplayer maps, a zombies map, and a new map for the game's War Mode. Carentan is available as a pre-order bonus for Call of Duty WW2 which is due out on November 3rd.

Another area that has helped this sales increase is game sales on the system and in particular, via its digital PlayStation store, although no figures were given.

Regardless, Paris Games Week gave PlayStation 4 owners plenty to look forward to.
