Senior counsel Harish Salve, who appeared for "Padmavati" Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, had pointed to the objectionable portion of the petition by Sharma. "The panel has asked Mr Bhansali and Mr Joshi to appear before it and present their views on the movie".

The film was supposed to be released on December 1 but the makers have deferred it indefinitely.

The panel, which also looks into the issues of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, had called the meeting to discuss the problems and issues faced by the film. "Padmavati" director Sanjay Leela Bhansali said reports that the film was being released overseas were incorrect and added that he would await certification.

Padmavati suffering from too many controversies now.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 submitted the new application yesterday, they said.

The makers of Padmavati have submitted a fresh application for a 3D version of the controversial film, which has been awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), sources said. Historians are divided over whether Padmini actually existed. The first was returned because there was no disclaimer. "Padmavati can not be released in Bihar till the government receives proper clarification from the makers of the film", he said, reported the Deccan Chronicle. "If the court cannot pre-judge (a film), we are surprised how anybody else can pre-judge the film under the law", Justice Misra observed. "We will restart our plan (the release date) once we get the censor certificate", a source close to the producers said. He said, "Once the film director provides the clarifications, we will consider showing the film in Bihar", further emphasising that he doesn't want unnecessary controversy surrounding screening of the film before the current objections are resolved.

Although the court did not name any politician or party, the rap came days after the BJP chief ministers of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan had declared their intention of banning the movie in their states for allegedly hurting Rajput sentiments.
