Arsenal 1-3 Manchester United: Premier League highlights and recap

Wenger refused to follow Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino's lead and rule his team out of the Premier League title race even though they are fifteen points behind leaders Manchester City.

"It was two very good teams going through different moments of the game", he said.

"I just know that Paul is frustrated".

Two goals from Jesse Lingard and one from Antonio Valencia earned United the victory - Mourinho's first away against a top-six club since he arrived at Old Trafford.

There was controversy to be found, of course, with Arsenal having a pretty reasonable penalty shout denied in the game's later stages but perhaps the biggest scandal on the night was the sending off of United's Paul Pogba, who - as a result of his misdemeanour - will miss out on his side's crucial derby matchup with Manchester City next time around.

'I am here to fight as long as I can, as long as mathematically it's possible you have to fight, you cannot give any other message out'.

Jose Mourinho insists he is "not surprised" Pep Guardiola was not punished for encroaching on the pitch on Wednesday - as the Manchester United boss was earlier this season.

"They had chances but we fought and we have a great goalkeeper too".

"The worst is the same for everyone I think - the tactics". But we have the experience to get better out of a game like that, you know.

'I take a lot of positives and I feel sorry for the players, that's why I'm angry.

"We played well but there is nothing more frustrating when you have that quality of performance and nothing to show for it at the end".

In a post-match huddle which also included Jose Mourinho, Thierry Henry and William Gallas, he gestured that it may have been Bellerin's unusual attempt to tackle that was to blame.

"There were incredible individuals performances and collectively we were very strong".

United midfielder Ander Herrera said: "We don't think about City".

"I could see him at Man United and being unbelievable", Wright added.

"We are second in the table. David was wonderful. When they had the two or three clear chances David was there so we are very happy".
