Chelsea boss Antonio Conte reacts to Everton draw

Meanwhile, defending top-flight champions Chelsea are now preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

'I think there is nothing to explain, ' snapped Conte, who has started the Belgian worldwide only three times in 18 months in the Premier League. We had a bit of fortune but got a well-deserved point.

"We hit the bar and the defender (Phil Jagielka) saved on the goal line so we are disappointed because we deserved to win and take the three points", Conte said.

Allardyce's involvement is likely to be key to any deal; the Everton boss bought Kone to the Stadium of Light during his tenure there back in January 2016 and the centre-back played a key role in keeping his side in the Premier League that term. We played this way with great personality, intensity and concentration.

"We want to be better in possession, but when we dominated Swansea, that is what we will be like against other teams".

And Allardyce admits there was plenty of positives to Everton's play as they shut out the Blues at Goodison Park.

On the other end, Thibaut Courtois was a virtual spectator as Sam Allardyce's men did not have a single shot on goal over the course of 90 minutes, perhaps lacking penetration without in-form striker Wayne Rooney, who sat out the tie with an illness.

Another step forward for Everton under Sam Allardyce, another afternoon of torment for Chelsea and Antonio Conte. "The quality of the ball was disappointing today, but the effort was top class and we are well satisfied with a point".
