'Tis been reported that Helena Bonham Carter - patron saint of quirky girls everywhere - is now in talks to take over the role of Princess Margaret (formerly portrayed by Vanessa Kirby) in Season 3 and 4.

The British star would replace Vanessa Kirby in the role following creator Peter Morgan's shake-up that will see older versions of the characters played by new cast members.

Both she and Colman portrayed the Queen Mum: Colman in films Hyde Park on Hudson and Bonham Carter in the Oscar-winning film The King's Speech. But it would be a ideal thrill to see her on The Crown-a sumptuous, thoughtful series that has brought a dazzling new appeal to the royal family. It's also proven to be a solid ratings hit, with nearly 3 million Netflix subscribers tuning into the season two premiere within the first three days of its release, according to Nielsen. Now, it seems that Helena Bonham Carter is tipped to take over the role as Princess Margaret.

If the critical raves surrounding the first two seasons of The Crown weren't enough to get you to watch, maybe the casting of Helena Bonham Carter will. She picks up the role from Claire Foy, who received an Emmy nod and a Golden Globe for her performance in Season 1.

No announcement has been made about the actor who will replace Matt Smith as Prince Philip, though Smith has admitted in interviews he suspects he knows the actor's identity.

The second season of the drama series from Peter Morgan launched December 8 on the streamer.

"You'll be like, 'Who are they?' We're the warm-up act", she said on The Tonight Show.

The Crown season 3 could premiere as early as this fall, but we wouldn't be shocked if it is pushed back later to accommodate all of the changes.
